HOW TO PLANT YOUR NOVEME THANK YOU CARD

Yes, you read that right. You can plant our thank you card. As part of our commitment to avoiding plastic and following sustainable practices, we decided to make our thank you cards with biodegradable seeded paper. You can plant it and see it grow into beautiful wildflowers. Read on to see our recommendations for when and how to plant it.

WILDFLOWER SEED PAPER

Our thank you card is made of plantable seed paper that is biodegradable and made from recycled materials. Once planted, the seeds grow and the paper composts away.

The card includes a wide range of wildflower seeds: birdsfoot trefoil, black knapweed, black medick, meadow buttercup, musk mallow, ox-eye daisy, ribwort plantain, red campion, salad burnet, self heal, white campion and yarrow.

At Noveme, we selected wildflower-seeded paper for our thank you cards not only because wildflowers are beautiful, but also because of their positive environmental impact: bees and butterflies love them!

WHEN TO PLANT WILDFLOWER SEEDS

Spring is the best time of the year to plant wildflower seeds, ideally in March or April. Alternatively, you can plant them in early autumn, in September or October.

HOW TO PLANT WILDFLOWER SEEDS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • A pot for planting, ideally one that has a drainage hole
  • Some good quality potting soil
  • Your Noveme thank you card
  • Water
  • A sunny spot

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Prepare the Pot

Fill your pot three-quarters full with soil.

Step 2: Plant the Card

Quickly soak your card in room temperature water, place it onto the soil in the pot, cover it with a thin layer of soil and tamp down gently on top. Give it a good soak and place it in a warm, sunny location (indoors or outdoors).

Step 3: Water Regularly During Germination

During the first 10 days, until your seedlings start to appear, water your paper daily. Germination will stop if the paper dries out, so it is important to keep the soil moist. Be careful not to overwater though.

You should see your seedlings start to sprout after 10 days. As your seedlings grow, continue watering regularly.

Step 4: Watch it Grow

Once sprouts appear, continue watering regularly. As sturdy plants appear, water as needed.
